The Frontier Design Prize is a forward-looking, innovative, and leading non-profit international design award set up under the guidance of the Shanghai Municipal Government and hosted by the Design Innovation Institute Shanghai. The initials of FDP are connected to form a triangle, which creates a series of three-dimensional logos, which mean the top of the mountain. It’s consistent with the purpose of FDP commending the world's top designers and design works.

前沿设计创新奖是在上海市政府指导下设立，上海创新创意设计研究院负责承办，面向全球评选的具有前瞻性、创新性、引领性的非盈利性国际化设计奖项。奖项英文名称首字母相连，围合成三角形，进而形成立体标志，意喻山巅。这与前沿奖表彰全球最顶尖的设计师和设计作品的宗旨相一致。
